Glass is wind proof and light transparent,with stable performance.Due to different applications,various types have different characteristics,so it has a wide range of applications.When choosing glass,we should not only pay attention to the price,but also have a certain understanding of its type and performance.Only by making full use of advantages and avoiding disadvantages can we find more suitable materials to use.We collected data and compiled this article to help everyone understand the glass selection specification and safety glass use specification.
1、Code and standard for use of safety glass
The Regulations on the Administrative Standards of Building Safety Glass(effective on January 1,2004)lists the following building components that require glass as building materials,and these components must use safety glass.
Standard of safety glass in use
(1)Open windows outside buildings on the 7th floor and above.
(2)Floor to ceiling windows with an area of more than 1.5 square meters or the distance between the bottom edge of the glass and the decorative surface of less than 500 mm(the boundary between the transparent part of the glass and the opaque part covered by the glass installation materials after the glass is installed in the frame).
(3)Curtain wall(except full glass curtain wall).
(4)Inclined assembly windows,various ceilings(including skylights and daylighting roofs)and ceilings.
(5)Sightseeing elevator and its shell.
(6)Interior partitions and screens.
(7)Stairs,balconies,platform corridors and atrium guardrails.
(8)The floor that bears pedestrians.
(9)Entrance and exit,hall and other parts of public buildings(including 1.door glass 2.glass installed above the door 3.glass installed on both sides of the door.The distance between the vertical edge near the door opening and the door opening is less than 300 mm).
(10)Other parts vulnerable to impact and causing personal injury.
2、Selection criteria for glass specifications
The selection of door glass and fixed door glass shall meet the following requirements:
1.The frame glass shall be safety glass conforming to regulations;When the glass area is not more than 0.5m2,ordinary annealed glass and laminated glass with a thickness of not less than 6mm can also be used.
2.Frameless glass shall be tempered glass conforming to the regulations,and the nominal thickness shall not be less than 10 mm.
Safety glass shall be used for indoor partition.
The glass assembled in public places and stadiums with large crowds shall meet the following requirements:
1.According to the regulations,the frame glass shall be tempered glass with a nominal thickness of not less than 5 mm or laminated glass with a nominal thickness of not less than 6.38 mm.
2.Frameless glass shall be tempered glass conforming to the regulations,and the nominal thickness shall not be less than 10 mm.
Bathroom glass shall meet the following requirements:
1.The frame glass in the following positions shall use the safety glass that meets the requirements.
2.Glass for shower partition and bathtub partition;
3.The distance between the visible line on the inside of the glass and the edge of the bathtub base is not more than 500mm,and the distance between the visible line on the bottom of the glass and the bottom of the bathtub or the height close to the floor is less than 1500mm
4.Except outside the bathroom door,all frameless glass shall be tempered glass with a nominal thickness of not less than 5 mm and comply with the regulations.
5.The frameless glass door of the bathroom shall use tempered glass with a nominal thickness of not less than 10mm.
